Back Can flooring keep your home cool in the summer?

The simple answer is, yes! The right flooring can absolutely keep your home cooler in the warmer months.

You may have a room that gets hot and stuffy when the temperature outside is soaring, so much so, you tend to avoid using it altogether, but why not consider the décor instead of wasting such valuable space?

Whilst we’re not suggesting changing your flooring according to each season, here are some ideas to consider for when you’re next looking at changing your flooring.

Laminate

Laminate is a great option if you are working to a budget. It can be purchased in a variety of different colours and patterns, and some are designed to replicate higher quality surfaces like wood or stone.

It does not absorb and hold heat like carpet does, and requires little effort to clean, making it ideal for the summer.

Luxury Vinyl Tiles / Planks

Luxury vinyl flooring mimics a variety of popular flooring, such as tile and stone, without the hassle of fitting it or the expense.

This particular choice is perfect for the summer months as it can be cooling underfoot and similar to laminate, it doesn’t hold heat.

Carpet

Whilst carpet can sometimes make rooms hotter, it doesn’t mean it should be avoided completely.

Try a shorter pile, so it doesn’t feel too warm underfoot and opt for a light shade that has cool undertones which will give the illusion of a chilled space.

You may be thinking that these options are great for the summer but what about when the winter arrives? Well worry not, these types of flooring look great with rugs which allows the space to be transformed in a warm and welcoming space when the temperature dips.
